Strong relationships: Portview introduces portfolio companies to important customers, partners, service providers, and investors worldwide. Portview has assembled an active, world-class Advisory Board with varied backgrounds to guide portfolio companies and broaden the Fund's network. Portview is backed by leading financial and strategic investors in North America and Europe who can be called upon when their assistance is desired. The Fund conducts an ongoing dialogue with a number of incumbent and competitive carriers worldwide to learn about their priorities and requirements. Portview also maintains relationships with law firms, auditors, recruiters, and investment banks, as well as with venture capitalists and other investors knowledgeable about the communications sector.
Company-building expertise: The founders of Portview have served as executives, directors, investors, and advisors to over 125 high tech companies during the past 15 years. In these roles, they have helped define positioning and formulate corporate strategy for companies at all stages of growth, developed forecasts and budgets, advised on strategic partnerships, raised capital through venture financings and Nasdaq offerings, recruited managers, negotiated with service providers, and coached managers on numerous negotiations and presentations. Working with companies such as Gilat Satellite Networks, Paychex, TTI Team Telecom, Floware, Intralinks, Teledata, and Vocaltec has given the Portview team a firm grounding in the realities and possibilities of life in start-up companies.
Hands-on assistance: Portview believes that support from venture investors is valuable only if it is accessible to the fund's portfolio companies. The Portview team takes its responsibility to portfolio company management seriously. Portview partners serve on no more than five boards each, giving them the time to devote to each of their investments.
